The main characteristics of plastic mold processing

by:Vowin Rapid Prototyping     2023-02-21
What are the main characteristics of plastic mold processing? It mainly includes the base plate of the die combination. The die with variable cavity is composed of the die assembly and the die combination clamping plate, and the base plate of the punch combination. The punch component. The punch combination clamp. The punch is composed of cavity truncated components and side sectional composite plates.

In order to improve the performance of plastics, various auxiliary materials should be added to the polymer, such as fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, stabilizers, colorants, etc., in order to become plastics with good performance.
1. Synthetic resin is the main component of plastic, and its plastic content is generally 40% to 100%. Due to the high resin content, the properties of the resin often determine the properties of the plastic, and people often regard resin as a synonym for plastic. For example, polyvinyl chloride resin and polyvinyl chloride plastic. Phenolic resin is mixed with phenolic plastic. In fact, resin and plastic are two different concepts. Resin is an unprocessed raw polymer, not only used to make plastics, but also used as raw materials for coatings, adhesives and synthetic fibers. Except for a few plastics that contain 100% resin, most plastics need to add other substances in addition to the main component resin.

2. Fillers are also called fillers, which can improve the strength and heat resistance of plastics and reduce costs. For example, adding wood flour to phenolic resins can greatly reduce costs, making Bakelite one of the cheapest plastics available, and significantly improve mechanical strength. Fillers can be divided into organic fillers and inorganic fillers, such as wood powder, rags, paper and various fabric fibers, the latter such as glass fiber, diatomaceous earth, asbestos, carbon black, etc.

3. Plasticizers Plasticizers can increase the plasticity and softness of plastics, reduce brittleness, and make plastics easy to process and shape. Plasticizers are generally miscible with resins, non-toxic, odorless, light-resistant, and phthalates are heat-stable organic compounds with high boiling points. For example, in the production of polyvinyl chloride plastic, if more plasticizers are added, soft polyvinyl chloride plastic can be obtained. If no or less plasticizer is added (10%), hard polyvinyl chloride plastic must be used.

4. In order to prevent the synthetic resin from being decomposed and destroyed by light and heat during processing and use, and prolong the service life, a stabilizer should be added to the plastic. Commonly used is stearate. Epoxy resin and so on.
5. Colorants Colorants can make plastics colorful and beautiful. Organic dyes and inorganic pigments are commonly used as colorants.

6. Lubricant The role of the lubricant is to prevent the plastic from sticking to the metal mold during the molding process, making the surface of the plastic smooth and beautiful. Commonly used lubricants include stearic acid and its calcium magnesium salts. In addition to the above additives, flame retardants, foaming agents, antistatic agents, etc. can also be added to plastics.
